Procedure and Schedule
Abstract submission to 9th ISEG begins on 1st May 2011 and ends on 31th January 2012 23:59 EST. Early registration must be finalized until 30th April 2012 for publication and scheduling to proceed.
All abstracts submitted will be reviewed by the ISEG International Scientific Committee. Once this is complete authors will be notified of abstract acceptance (limit date 31 March 2012). Accepted abstracts will be published on book of abstracts.
Submission of an abstract means that the authors are committed to attending the meeting and presenting the work.
Preparing Your Abstract(s)
Abstracts are to be one-page long, max 450 words including references in short form. Abstracts must be in English and include text only (no pictures, tables or graphics). Authors must use the template. This is a Microsoft Word file into which authors may type or copy and paste their abstracts. Only the style listed below should be used, as shown in the example abstract.
Please note that at least one presenter for each accepted abstract must register for the conference and pay the registration fee. The registration deadline for accepted presenters is 30 April. Abstracts without a registered presenter by this date will be removed from the symposium programme and all materials.

Submitting Your Abstract
Please submit your abstract online using the Abstract Submission Form. All authors should complete the submission form including the abstract title and author details. Authors should identify the session most appropriate to their paper, and their preferred presentation style (oral, poster, no preference). Use the Browse button to select the file you wish to upload and then use the Submit for checking button.
At this stage please check your details carefully as incorporating changes later in the process may not be possible. Once you have ensured all the details are correct, please press the Submit Abstract to Conference button.
After submitting your abstract you will be emailed with a reference number for your submission. Please keep this email as you will need this number should you wish to contact us regarding your abstract.
Submission of Papers to be published on Special Issues
Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and published in a Special Issue of:

Applied Geochemistry
Special Issue on “Environmental changes and sustainable development: sources, transport and fate of geological agents in the environment"

Environmental Geochemistry and Health
Special Issue on “ Trace elements, organic pollutants, radio-nuclides, minerals and gases in environmental health and disease".
Authors will be invited to enhance their papers to the journal’s quality and submit electronically via Email to the Guest-Editor (eafsilva@ua.pt) [i.e., *not* through the Online Submission system].
Deadline for submissions is 30 September, 2012. All submissions will be subject to peer review.
Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published previously, that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that if accepted it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written consent of the publisher.
Manuscripts must be written in English. Authors whose native language is not English are recommended to seek the advice of a colleague who has English as his mother-tongue before submitting their manuscript. Manuscripts written in correct English require less time for review and publication.
Authors should refer to the Instructions for Authors on the journal’s homepage (www.springer.com/10653) for guidance before submitting the article directly to the Guest Editor for consideration.
